Born In Rhode Island, which was once known as the "Costume Jewelry Capital", I have long had a love of beads and jewelry. When I moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1985, I was immediately inspired by the artists I found myself surrounded by.
In 1988, a group of friends got together and formed what we came to know as "Culture Nights", evenings where we got together and shared our creativity. It was in this venue I learned how to make jewelry.
Inspired by the many artists and creatives around me, I took that love of jewelry and jewelry making to another level and began Violet Drury Designs in 1993. I love the journey; from wire and stones or pearls, to gallery, festival or boutique, to hearing someone say, "these are my favorite earrings".
It never gets old!
I design and handcraft jewelry, combining gemstones, freshwater pearls, and precious metals. I am inspired by pieces from the past, but my work is thoroughly modern. My style is romantic and feminine, sometimes earthy and bold, and always a treasure!
